2018’s map. Have you already got one?
Have you ever thought if at the beginning of every year we received a map indicating the best way to follow each day? A map full of details and routes and what exactly we should do to achieve our goals.
Maybe you have already set your goals for 2018 or it may be you have so many things to think about that you don’t know what goals to set. Whatever your situation, the idea of having a map to guide our route in 2018 is not bad idea. I can remember several situations where the maps made the difference to my trip or journey. No one denies the importance maps have whether it is a paper map or and electronic one. They are still essential.
Psalm 119, verse 105, tells us that the Bible is a lamp that lights our path. Besides that, the Bible also shows us the best direction to follow. We find in the Bible directions and advice on the best way to go. Much more.. the Bible shows us the way to salvation and eternity.
We all have dreams we want to come true this year. Goals to achieve. College, university, employment, marriage, children and travel. When I think of all these things, my goals and dreams, I reflect: What is my greatest goal in life? What has motivated me to live? After all, what is the essence of life?
When I think of how fast the years are passing by, I try to focus on understanding what is really essential in this life and I ask God for wisdom every day.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you” James 1:5
Wisdom to know the best way to live and don’t get lost amidst the plans and dreams of this earth. This is a risk to all of us – focusing too much on the things of this world and forgetting what is eternal.
There’s a song I like sung by the band Casting Crowns that reflects more on this. It says
“We know we are made for so much more than ordinary lives. It’s time for us to more than just survive. We were made to thrive”
If you have just survived in this world and think you are getting lost in your daily activities and plans for this life, stop for a while and ask God for wisdom. He’s got the information you need. He knows all the routes in life and, even better, He knows the route to salvation. Why not get closer to Him and to His purposes for your life in 2018?
