A Quick Glance

An Overview

We are Calmore based and community is at the heart of all we do. This page is a brief overview of our current regular and one-off activities. For further information on any of these follow the links or email us at info@thewateringhole.org.uk

Puppets and Creative Arts

It’s about more than puppets! Being part of the Puppet and Creative Arts team offers chances for creatives between the ages of 13 and 100 to use cameras and sound equipment, make scenery and props, operate puppets and perform blacklight dance. The opportunities are only limited by our imagination.

Training is on Monday evenings 6.30-8.30pm in The Hunters Hall, Calmore Community Centre. We have two big creative arts shows, one at Christmas and one at Easter. Also we do performances at various community events, school assemblies and church services. Our performances in the main focus on moral and spiritual messages.

Contact us if you think you are creative and would like to be considered as part of the team.

Card-making Workshops

We meet at Calmore Community Centre on the second Monday afternoon of the month from 1.30-4.30pm and on Thursday evenings 6.45-9.00pm.

At the club we offer you the chance to try a variety of card making techniques and hang out with people who enjoy the same hobby. Most weeks we manage to make at least two cards and make time for coffee and a chat.

Email info@thewateringhole.org.uk for the latest schedule of workshops or download it here

Church Services

We hold weekly Church Services on Saturday mornings. These are open to anyone and start at 1045am with a coffee. The service begins at 11.00 and lasts about 80 minutes. We are a small but welcoming congregation. There is time for contemporary praise, prayer and Bible based teaching/discussion at each service.

Two of our services each month are held in the King Rufus Room in Calmore Community Centre. The others are at various locations around Calmore so its best to contact us to find out where these might be.

Acrobatic Gymnastics

The Watering Hole has, for many years supported the local sports club, Calmore Acro Zone with sponsorship. The club is a non-competitive club open to anyone 6 years and older. Our focus is on performing at shows, local events and galas. They work in cooperation with The Watering Hole’s Puppets and Creative Arts team with performances at Christmas and Easter Shows.

Also they have performed for church services, and at a Remembrance Service. As a result of sponsorship they have been able to train 4 young people as helpers and leaders as well as 5 adult coaches.

The emphasis is on having fun while challenging each individual to be the best that they can, whether that is as a gymnast or a leader or both.

If you are interested in joining or helping then please contact them direct on this link or visit their Facebook Page
