Advent Calendar – December 22
At Christmas we traditionally give gifts to those we love. The gift giving tradition is said to date back to the three wisemen who visited the Baby Jesus and bought gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Various saints associated with Christmas, most notably Saint Nicholas of Turkey, are credited with giving gifts to the poor.
What we tend to forget is that Christmas, the celebration of Jesus’ birth, is about God’s gift to us. This video succinctly sums up that gift
Remember, as you give gifts to others, that God gave us the greatest gift of all to demonstrate his extravagant love for us.
