Calmore Christmas Lights Competition!

There is nothing like walking along a street lit with lights on a crisp evening and this year we wish to transform Calmore into a magical winter wonderland.

Entries are open from 9am, 19th November 2014 till 9pm, Monday 8th December 2014

Judging will take place after dark on Tuesday 9th December 2014

Winners will be announced the the annual Creative Arts Christmas Carols at the
Calmore Community Centre on Saturday, 13th December 2014 at 6pm

The prizes:

1st Place Prize £60
2nd Place Prize £40
3rd Place Prize £20

Criteria for judging :

Unique design and creative use of lights and decorations
Storyline or theme
Display and placement of decorations, animated objects, etc.
Overall presentation.

Competition Entry Form

Terms and Conditions

1. Entry is free, no cost or fees apply.
2. Participation is open to all residents within the boundaries of Calmore (see here for detailed map of included streets).
3. Entrance forms must be received either online or via the post no later than 9pm on Monday, December 8 2014.
4. An Entry Number Card will be provided to each participant. This card must be affixed to the exterior of the residence in a conspicuous place where it can be seen by the judges from the street.
5. Judging will be carried out after dark on Tuesday, 9/12/14. Judging will be based on “street appeal” and viewed from the street only. Participants should ensure that all lights, animations and decorations are in place and activated for this night.
6. Judging criteria will include [a] Unique design and creative use of lights and decorations; [b] Storyline or theme; [c] Display and placement of decorations, animated objects, etc.; and [d] Overall presentation.
7. Participants agree to have one or more photos of their decorated residence exterior posted on The Watering Holes’s Website and Social Media Pages. Participant agrees there will be no compensation of any kind for said posting or publication.
8. Three prizes will be awarded: One 1st prize of £60; one 2nd prize of £40 and a 3rd prize of £20. Winners will be announced at the Creative Arts Community Carols, 6pm 13/12/14 at the Calmore Community Centre. Winners need to be present to receive their prize. Judges ruling is final.
9. Streets of entrants will be listed on a map for the purpose of the walking light tours held from 5pm on the 14/12/14 (for privacy, no details regarding the house or the residents will be listed).
