Make a difference
Last Saturday was the start of “Make A Difference” week.
It got me thinking about all the people who have made a difference in my life. My parents taught me moral values, supported me and gave me guidance on spiritual things so that I was able to make right choices which have impacted my life greatly. There are the teachers and mentors who have been there helping me to be the best Pastor that I can be. I am very grateful to all thee people.
Many of us are fortunate enough to have had these such people in our lives. However, making a difference also happens in the small everyday things of our lives. A smile from a stranger; a door opened when my arms are fully laden; an encouraging SMS; a bunch of flowers; or a box of chocolates (I had to get that one in); all these make my day brighter. As a result I am more inclined to “pay it forward” thus making a small difference to many more people.
The writer Luke recorded that when Jesus went through a town there were no sick or sad people left behind whose lives hadn’t been touched. Amazing and something that few of us could ever have said about us. Jesus also challenged us to think about doing something positive, that would make a difference not only in the lives of those we love but also in the lives of those we don’t like. I wonder what would happen if we all decided to give that challenge a go during this “Make A Difference” week?
