The Story begins
Millions of people are hooked on discovering their family tree. Maybe you are one of them? They search for details of their ancestry by surfing the internet or by leafing through mouldy pages of old church records. Many people down through the ages have asked the question where did I come from? Seeking answers is the motivation for their search?
The Bible is interested in that question too.
In the opening words of the Bible we see that human beings were not the result of an accident; not a slow progression to a superior species, but the result of a God intentionally creating the world. All he used were His powerful words, some dust and a rib.
This is where The Story begins. However, there is more to The Story than our beginnings. This is just the “Once upon a time…” part of the narrative. As we continue to look at The Story and delve into the lives of people in the Bible we will see that there is nothing special about these people. Just like us they worked, ate, raised families, coped with life and eventually died. We will see a common thread through The Story; that throughout the lives of the characters God is there.
The Bible tells us that God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. So if He was with the people we discover in The Story, He will also be with you.
