The Story: From Slave to Prime Minister
The main character in The Story this week is a man named Joseph. There is so much happening in his life. Most of the time Joseph appears to stumble from one disaster to another. If your life is in a bit of a mess at the moment, if you have major decisions to be made, if family life is strained then you will be able to sympathise with Joseph.
Living in a family with many step brothers relationships become very strained and things reach boiling point when at 17 years old things boil over and his brothers plot to kill him but end up selling him into slavery. While in slavery he has to contend with scheming women, working for no pay, trouble with the boss as well as being misunderstood before being unfairly jailed with no hope of release for good behaviour.
Then we get that incredible rags to riches story scenario that is the plot of many famous novels when Joseph goes from being prisoner to Governor of Egypt. By a strange twist of fate he is reunited with his family and learns to forgive them. I could go on and on but I suggest you read all about it for yourselves.
Through the story of Joseph I learn that God knows what is going on in my life; He is aware of even the smallest detail of my life. Not only that but during those bleak and confusing times in my life He never leaves me. He promises “Never will I leave you or forsake you.” and “…that nothing will separate us from His loving attention”.
Enjoy getting acquainted this week with the story of Joseph and may his story help you as your own story unfolds in the coming weeks.
