The Story: Messages
When we left The Story in the last chapter, the nation of Israel had split into two kingdoms. I think it was because they were no longer sending out the right message to the nations around them that God caused Israel to divide. Divided they would not be able to be as big an influence for wrong and He could start over with a smaller new nation.
In The Story we see God continually trying to get messages through to them to give them an accurate picture of Himself so that they might reflect His love to the unbelieving nations around them. Even thought they repeatedly mess up God still wants His people to be blessed so that others would be drawn to their God. God has not stopped doing that with us even today.
In chapter 15 God sends nine prophets to the 19 kings of Israel over a period of 208 years.
Two of the nine prophets were Elijah and Hosea who were given messages of love and correction .
God still speaks today through his word and by his Spirit. These contain His messages to us, helping us get a clearer picture of Him, His big plan and how we might live until we are reunited with Him.
God wants to talk to you. Just as He tried a myriad different ways in chapter 15 of The Story, He will try a variety of approaches to get His message across to you.
Will you take the call or will you just put God through to voicemail?
